Summary

At Lucan Orthodontics, trading as DHM Dental Services Limited, we want our website to be easy to use for everyone, in accordance with S.I. No. 636/2023, European Union (Accessibility Requirements of Products and Services) Regulations 2023. We aim to ensure that as many people as possible, including those with disabilities, can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with our digital content effectively.

This accessibility statement applies to: https://www.lucanorthodontics.ie

We take the following measures to ensure accessibility

We work to keep accessibility part of how we design, build and maintain this website, including:

- building pages with clear structure and readable content

- checking new pages and updates for accessibility issues before publishing

- aiming for good keyboard access and visible focus states

- adding text alternatives for key images and icons

- reviewing embedded content such as videos to reduce barriers

Our compliance status

We are actively working on improving the accessibility of our website. Currently, this website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, based on the issues identified below.

Accessibility features of this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

- change colours, contrast levels and fonts

- zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen

- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

- view content in different ways without losing information or structure

When we publish information on this website, we try to:

- structure content well

- use plain English

- use short sentences

- explain acronyms

- make images and videos accessible

- ensure new features work with assistive technologies

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non accessible for the following reason: non compliance.

We are aware of the following potential accessibility issues identified during a review of key pages and are working to address them:

Form errors may not be clear enough for screen reader users
The form includes a generic error message which may not explain what needs to be fixed or link errors to specific fields.

Required fields may not be clearly communicated to assistive technology
Required fields are indicated visually with an asterisk (for example “First name*”, “Last name*”, “Email*”, “Message*”). We are reviewing whether this is also conveyed in a way that works well for screen readers.

Dropdown and consent wording may need clearer programmatic labels
The “How did you hear about us?” dropdown and the consent checkbox are present, and we are reviewing whether labels, instructions and states are announced consistently by assistive technologies.

Embedded and third party content may introduce barriers
The page links out to third party services (for example directions via Google Maps), and other areas of the site use embedded media. Third party content is not always fully within our control.

We are using these findings to guide fixes, with a focus on forms, labels, error handling, and embedded content.
